Kevin Knight, President

Kevin was born and raised in Meaford. He returned to the area in 1991 as Sales Manager in the family business (Stanley Knight Ltd.) after 15 years in the GTA in banking and various other admin. positions. He is married to a wonderful lady, Bonnie Banks. He claims to be "dad" to a menagerie of dogs, cats and horses.
Kevin whole heartedly agrees that "we all must serve the community and volunteer out talents in an area that holds our interest and presents a challenge". Health care, to Kevin, fits this criteria. Kevin states that "Health care in the community is increasingly important. Helping to raise and manage money for the MGH Foundation is both challenging and interesting".
Kevin knows that his experience in management and as a business owner brings a rational voice and sound decision making to the table.
Other Interests: Running, Skiing, Band, Biking and Motorcycle Tripping.

Maureen Strickland, Secretary
Maureen was born in England, arrived in Canada as a child.
Maureen enjoyed careers in insurance and legal administration. Before retiring she worked as a legal administrator with a well known Mississauga firm
Since retiring Maureen and her husband have become very involved with the GBHS - Meaford Auxiliary. Over the years she has held various other executive positions on the GBHS - Meaford Auxiliary and presently holds the position of Treasurer. Maureen also spent eight years with the Hospital Auxiliary Association of Ontario, serving on the Executive as Director of External Affairs and Director of Education
Maureen originally came to the Meaford Hospital Foundation as a representative from the Meaford Auxiliary. She has been a nominated member for several years now

Lynn Johnston, Privacy Coordinator

Lynn Johnston graduated from Nursing in Sudbury, Ontario. Her career spanned 35 years, working in many different aspects of health care. She was involved in the planning, building and renovation of three different hospitals and was also responsible for setting up many new hospital programs including oncology and dialysis. She retired eight years ago and she and her husband moved to their weekend home at Christie Beach then relocating to Meaford.
Other Interests: Gardening, crafts and spending time with family.

Bert Chalmers, Campaign Chair

Bert and his wonderful wife Liz have three sons and three grandchildren. Bert and Liz reside in Meaford.
Bert is a graduate of Queens University (Politics). He obtained his Masters Degree (Administration) from the University of Toronto. Bert is a former Associate Director of Education (Peel School Board); the former Chair of the Board of Governors (Sheridan College) and Founder & CEO of Highland Consultants International. Bert has been the recipient of various awards and honours.
Bert currently sits on a variety of charitable foundation boards. Bert if the former President and Capital Campaign Chair of the Meaford Hospital Foundation.

Anita Hunter, Director & Events Coordinator

Anita and her husband Mike are residents of Meaford and enjoy many of the amenities offered in this four seasons resort area.
Anita has been a Director with the MGH Foundation for a number of years. Her initial involvement with the Foundation was with the Marketing & Communications Committee for the 5 yer Capital Campaign.
Anita is the owner of Tri-namic Printing Inc. A commercial printing company that she founded in 1992 in Collingwood.
Anita has many years of Marketing and management experience to bring to the MGH Foundation Board.

Juliette Gingras, Staff Representative
Juliette is a Senior Physiotherapist at the Meaford Hospital. She graduated from the University of Toronto and has been a practicing Physiotherapist for 27+ years. Juliette has worked in a variety of settings; from large teaching hospitals to small community based hospitals. Juliette has also worked in a variety of geographical settings including Newfoundland, Northern Ontario, Inuvik, N.W.T., and Golden B.C. While in B.C. (1993-1995) she served as President of the Kootenay District of the Physiotherapy Association and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Physiotherapy Association of B.C.
Juliette and her family returned to Ontario 10 years ago and were drawn to the natural beauty and recreational opportunities that Meaford had to offer. Her huband, Richard is a Registered Nurse, also working at the Meaford Hospital. Juliette and Richard have a daughter, Rachelle, and a son Michael.
Gary Huber, Director

Gary was born and raised in Saskatchewan and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1974. In 1996 Gary and his wife Claire moved to the wonderful community of Thornbury and have never left.
Gary is pharmacist at the Thornbury Pharmacy, which is now known as the Thornbury Pharmasave.
The Meaford Hospital Foundation has been lucky to have Gary as a board member for the past three. Along with the demands of work and being a board member Gary is also an active member of the Thornbury Clarksburg Rotary Club.

Elaine Burns, Ex-Officio Member

Elaine relocated to Meaford in 2005. Along with holding the position of Program Director, Meaford Hospital, Elaine also represents the rural hospitals of GBHS in corporate discussions on inpatient care.
Elaine came to us with a vast amount of management and clinical experience in a multi-site organization.
Elaine is truly passionate about excellent patient care, respectful of all points of view and is known as a creative problem solver. Elaine's work with Meaford Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses across GBHS ensures that these professionals are able to practice to their full scope.
At the Southwest Local Health Integration Network (LHINs) level Elaine has represented GBHS in working with Long-Term Care Facilities whose goal is to improve care for the elderly in our area.
Elaine is a combination of wisdom and passion mixed in is a great sense of humour and strong commitment to patient care. We are very blessed to have her on board.

Dr. Ian Irvine, Director

Dr. Irvine was born and educated in Scotland. He graduated MB. Ch.B Glasgow 1961 elected FRCS(Glas) 1965. Dr. Irvine worked in East Africa in the Surgical Programme at Makerare University. He emigrated to Canada in 1967. Dr. Irvine held the position of GP in Clarksburg and Meaford General Hospital till retirement in 2007.
Dr. Irvine is married to Linda. They share 5 children of which only one is living in Canada.
Interests and hobbies include walking, fishing, x cross skiing, music, Rotary projects and reading.
Dr. Irvine states that he enjoyed work but appreciates retirement. He is still involved in and interested in youth and social projects. "Hope to live a long and happy life".
Brian Renken, Director
Brian is senior, and sole remaining partner of the law firm, Scheifele, Erskine & Renken in Meaford. Brian has been active in the Meaford Hospital since 1987 acting as President of the Meaford General Hospital from 1990-1993. Brian was also the Foundation Representative on the Grey Bruce Health Services Board and ultimately became Chairman of the Hospital Corporation from 2003 to 2005. Brian joined the Meaford General Hospital Foundation in 1991 and continued on the board until 2007. After a year hiatus, Brian returned to the Meaford Hospital Foundation.
Brian is the former President of the Grey County Law Association and as an avid runner himself, has remained the Race Director for the Meaford 5Km Run/Walk/Stroll since its inception in 1997. This annual July run has raised over $100,000.00 for the Hospital Foundation.
Brian and his wife Barbara reside in Meaford where they have raised their two children Andrew and Kayla.
Alisha Henrich, Director

Alisha joined Scheifele, Erskine & Renken in 2008, as an associate lawyer. Prior to joining SER, Alisha worked in the Toronto office of an international business law firm. Originally from Owen Sound, Alisha and her husband are excited to be back in the area and closer to family and friends. Having just joined the Meaford Hospital Foundation Board in November 2009, Alisha is looking forward to more community involvement and assisting such a worthy cause.

Steven Schofield, Past President

Steven and his wonderful wife Helene have been married for 36 years. They have three children and two grandchildren.
Steven spent much of his 30+ career working in the financial service industry. Much of this involved working with banks and financial institutions. Just to highlight a few - Steven held positions such as President of Newcourt Financials Vendor Finance Division, President & CEO of Dell Financial Services in Austin Texas and President & CEO of Microform Inc. a publically traded company on the TSE.
Currently, Steven is the President of the Thornbury Clarksburg Rotary Club, a member of the Town of the Blue Mountains Affordable Housing Committee, a Director of the North East Grey Health Clinics Inc., a representative of the Five Foundation on the Grey Bruce Health Services Board as well as being a member of the Meaford Hospital Foundation, holding the positions of Director, President and currently Past President.
Steven has been a member of the Meaford Hospital Foundation, holding the positions of Director, President and currently Past President.

Laurie Bennett, Treasurer

Laurie was raised in Meaford and spent his working life in Toronto as a partner of Ernst and Young. He has recently returned to Meaford with his wife Patricia who is also originally from Meaford. Patricia and Laurie have 3 children.
Laurie’s father was Colin Bennett a lawyer from Meaford and his grandfather was a doctor who practiced in Meaford. Patricia’s father and grandfather were dentists in Meaford.
